Open wide and say ahhhhhh.
Every five years, lakers go through a thorough inspection to assure that they're in suitable condition to continue operation.  This involves dry docking so that the hull can inspected right along with the rest of the ship.  The Wilfred Sykes was due this year and on 12/16/03 docked at Bay Shipbuilding for her inspection.  These are a couple shots from Christmas Day 2003. Notice that she's getting a fresh coat of paint along with some other work.
