Nice bridge, but to where?
Mom looks over the masonry work.
Off in the middle of nowhere along the Jeffries Siding on UP's Kansas Subdivision is an old stone arch bridge.  Old as the hills, it'll probably last forever. But why build it here?
At least the marker tells a story. Accessible, way out in the middle of nowhere.
So here you have it.  A National Historic Site in the middle of nowhere.  If you didn't pay attention to the road signs, you'd never find it.  A grant was likely provided to the local preservation committee who did the site work and thus the nice accessible site.  Nice way to preserve some architectural history

Easily accessible site.
